About Coaching4All

Our Coaching4All qualification will provide you with the toolkit and confidence to support a range of clients in your coaching. This is a thought provoking and interactive course offering opportunities to practise, reflect and develop your understanding and skills for you to plan, deliver and manage an inclusive coaching environment.

What will I have to do?

The course is made up of five tutor led sessions and a final assessment to complete your qualification. Two tutor-led sessions are face to face, held at BHS Headquarters (Warwickshire) and three are held via video call.

For your assessment you will complete and present two case studies demonstrating how you have supported two different clients to work towards their equine goals. A professional discussion will follow the presentation. You can choose a face to face or video call assessment.

You will be asked to submit short videos of your coaching to the tutor to support with a self-reflection exercise. You will also receive a one-to-one call with the tutor part way through the course to check in with your progress.

You will also complete two additional online courses (included in the Coaching4All course fee):

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join the face-to-face workshops virtually instead?

These sessions are a great way to meet likeminded people to share ideas, experiences and network with. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Attendance in person at the full day session is compulsory. It isn’t possible to join these sessions virtually.

How will the online sessions be delivered?

The 2.5-hour online training sessions will take place via either Microsoft Teams or Zoom. You will be notified which platform is being used before the first online session. If you haven’t used either platform before, we’d recommend downloading and familiarising yourself with it before your first session.

Invites to join the meeting will be sent out by email approximately two days before the session.

What coursework is there?

There will be self-study to carry out between sessions. This could include researching a topic, self-reflection, adding to your case studies or watching video clips.

Throughout the course you’ll work with the trainer to build two short case studies about two different participants that you coach regularly.

As part of the training, you’ll be required to submit short (1-2 minutes) video clips of you coaching your case study participants to the trainer. These videos will only be viewed by the trainer for training feedback purposes.

Please note: Appropriate permissions should be sought from the participant to allow filming and recording of sessions when required.

What level of participants do I need for my case studies?

Each case study is your opportunity to demonstrate how you have supported participants with differing needs to take part in equine activities. There are no restrictions on the level or ability of the participants for the case study, and can be a new or existing clients. Each case study must cover a minimum of six sessions which can be private, shared or group sessions.

The coaching sessions can be ridden, driven, ground schooling or stable management activities but must clearly demonstrate your ability to coach inclusively. Lesson plans and risk assessments for each session must be included in each case study.

What does the final assessment involve?

For the assessment you will deliver a 10-15 minute presentation about your two case studies, followed by a professional discussion with a BHS Assessor and one other panel member.

The assessment will last up to one hour.

Copies of your two case studies must be submitted to the office at least two weeks prior to your assessment date.

When will the final assessment take place?

Assessments will be scheduled to take place at least four weeks after the final session and candidates will be assessed individually.

Assessment dates will be pre-set, and you are expected to attend. If you cannot attend the date offered there will be a transfer fee of £75 to rearrange another date.

All assessments must be completed within ten weeks of the final session date.

I’ve already completed the Mental Health First Actions course is there a discount available?

Yes, if you’ve already completed this course there is a discount of £99.50 off the BHS Coaching4All course fee. Please include a copy of your certificate with your application form.
