- Mucking out
- Skipping out
- Grooming
- Tacking up / untacking
- Care of equipment
- Clipping (dependant on experience)
- Trimming (dependant on experience)
- Preparing horses for lessons
- Turning horses out
- Bringing horses in
- Schooling & Hacking horses and ponies (dependant on experience)
- Cleaning / refilling water’s
- Filling hay nets
- Poo picking
- Treating minor veterinary conditions (dependant on experience)
- Tack cleaning.
- Making feeds (dependant on experience)
- Haying fields with yard vehicle (dependant on if driving licence is held)
- General yard duties
We are a family run riding school based in Cobham, looking for an experienced groom to
join our team!

We have 40 horses, their care being a priority and to be kept to the highest standard. We
are looking for a full-time experienced groom with one weekend day included.
We have a mixture of staff from BHS Stage 1-4. All staff are working towards different
exams, so plenty of opportunity to train for BHS exams. We would like someone who
would like to progress up the BHS qualification system. However, riding is not essential
for the role. We have FBHS who comes in weekly to train staff towards exams. Previously,
we have organised outings for staff to take the horses and ponies to the beach, XC
schooling, dressage and show jumping competitions. The staff put a lot of time and effort
into the horses and keeping them well-schooled.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, have equine experience and work well as part of
a team. Our horses and ponies are part of the family, and without them we wouldn’t be
able to offer the wonderful lessons, activities, and courses that we do. We are looking for
someone with a high standard of horse care and empathy towards the horses. Good
people/customer service skills as although you will be based on the yard, there will still
be times that you will deal with clients.
The job is 5 days a week including one weekend day. Shifts can be discussed but it will
either be 8am-5pm or 1pm-9pm as we have late nights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays.
