Booking and Information

We are delighted to be able to offer BHS Bedfordshire’s popular sponsored ride in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance and The British Horse Society, at Shuttleworth Park.  Net proceeds will be shared 50:50 between the two charities.  This rescheduled event is now on Sunday 8th June

We are offering a shorter and a longer route:

6 miles (with optional additional 1.5 miles) - this is all within the private estate, using tracks, headlands and parkland with roadwork only on the drives in and out of the estate

9 miles (with optional additional 1.5 miles) - this is an additional 3 miles of bridleways and tracks owned by Shuttleworth with one small stretch of public road

The optional 1.5 mile loop on each of the two distances takes you out of the parkland via a stewarded road crossing and onto a permissive bridleway and private grassland by kind permission of Jacqui Sutton and John Franklin.

You can choose on the day whether or not to ride this additional loop.  It will also be possible to change the distance ridden from short to longer on the day but note that those booked in the final timeslot MUST do the shorter route and will NOT be permitted to extend their ride.

Shuttleworth Park is located off the A1, about a mile west of Biggleswade, or off the A507, about 5 miles north of Shefford.

Tickets are £20 payable in advance. As this is a fundraising ride, we also ask for a minimum of £10 sponsorship but obviously we hope that many of you will raise much more! There will be trophies for anyone raising over £100. The net proceeds of the ride will be shared equally by the two vital charities.

Details of how to collect your sponsorship via JustGiving (and so claim gift aid if eligible) will be emailed to you. We encourage you to use JustGiving with fundraiser pages linked to the event as this will ensure that the sponsorship is trackable by the ride organiser who will ensure it is shared between the two charities. Please don't use other fundraising platforms as it will make the organiser's job even harder!

Rosettes for all, kindly sponsored by Simply Horse (simplyhorse.co.uk) and by Heather Stopher.  Place Images Photography will be capturing the event with photos available after the event via an online gallery. Rossdales will be the vet on call, we will have medical support on site and a caterer offering food and drinks.

Whilst there is no flying display at Shuttleworth on the day, there may be some light aircraft flights and the runway is close to the parking area and the start of the ride.  For this reason, horses MUST NOT be left unattended in the parking area and you should check in before unloading.

ALL HORSES MUST BE VACCINATED - minimum first two injections (at least 6 days before the event) or annual booster in up to date record. Random checks may be carried out.

BOOKING

Just click on the blue 'book now' button.

Starts will be within a half hour window during the period 9.30am to 12.30pm but note that those starting after noon will only be able to do the shorter route options. You will be offered the opportunity to buy tickets for a specific slot.

Maximum group size is 5 and you can buy 5 tickets at once BUT you will need a lot of information about the other riders:

  • their email address (so we can send them information about the ride)
  • the mobile number they will take on the ride
  • age if under 18 and escort details if 16 or under (escorting on bike is permissable subject to conditions - please email bhs.beds@gmail.com)
  • their emergency contact details (not someone on the ride - someone we can call in the case of an accident)
  • their 3rd party  insurance provider (insurer name and policy number or BHS gold membership number)
  • their vehicle registration number
  • confirmation that their horse complies with the vaccination requirements
  • their permission to agree to the privacy terms and terms and conditions on their behalf

So it may be easier to book individually.

ENTRIES CLOSE Sunday 1st June 2025 at 11.45pm or when full if earlier.
