'The Story Of The Kelpies & Other Equine Giants' - A Talk With Sculptor Andy Scott, Creator Of The Kelpies

Monday 25 November 2024, 7pm-8.30pm

Online Via Teams

We are truly honoured to bring you this evening talk with Sculptor, Andy Scott, entitled 'The Story Of The Kelpies & Other Equine Giants'.

Andy Scott is a Scottish sculptor who works with galvanised and stainless steel and cast bronze, on large scale works of art that portray animals and humans, often with the focus being on the horse. His work can be found throughout Scotland and across the world. Andy is best known for his iconic and spectacular creation, The Kelpies. Standing at 100ft tall and weighing over 300 tonnes each, The Kelpies lie right at the heart of The Helix Park, between Falkirk and Grangemouth.

Andy says:

I am really looking forward to sharing the saga of The Kelpies with the British Horse Society in November. It will be a pleasure to share our experiences of designing and working on these landmark equine artworks with an audience who are passionate about horses, especially in this year of The Kelpies’ tenth anniversary.

I will give an insight from my perspective as the artist into the back-story of the monuments’ creation, covering my inspirations and the journey of bringing them from sketchbook to 600 tonnes of steel. I’ll also be sharing other highlights from our folio and look forward to any questions the audience might have about our equine works and other sculptures.

Cost: £5.

Proceeds to BHS Scotland.

This talk will be recorded and the link to the recording will be sent to all. If you cannot join the event live on the evening, please only purchase a 'recording' ticket.
