About Us

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, just an hour from Pisa and Florence, Alterreno is a modern and innovative equestrian centre dedicated to the wellbeing of both horses and riders. Spanning 30 hectares of rolling hills and open countryside, the facility provides a safe, enriching, and natural environment where humans and horses can learn, grow, and thrive together.

The stables are equipped with 30 permanent boxes, 16 of which have adjacent individual paddocks. Facilities include a 20x60m indoor arena with French sand, mirrors, sound system, and irrigation; a 20x60m outdoor all-weather arena; an 800m woodchip canter track; a 2-hectare grass field with cross-country obstacles and a unique Honeycomb training area with four 15m round pens inside a 60m pen.

Alterreno is home to numerous paddocks designed for varying horse needs—whether daytime turnout or 24/7 pasture living. The centre welcomes horses requiring special care, including stallions, senior horses, and those recovering from injuries. Additional amenities include a foaling box, farrier station, solarium, and two wash bays.

Our approach is rooted in natural horsemanship and holistic care. We offer riding lessons for all ages and experience levels, using a carefully selected group of school horses trained in natural, respectful methods. Our philosophy places emphasis on the horse-human bond as a path to mutual growth, awareness, and emotional balance.

Alterreno is more than a riding facility—it’s a place of connection, transformation, and learning. With kilometres of scenic trails, a playful horse park, and a calm, nurturing atmosphere, we invite riders and horses to experience equestrianism in harmony with nature, body, mind, and spirit.
