About me

Whilst I represented GB as a young rider when at University, my experience spanning the past 4 decades is mainly in building confidence at grassroots level working with young and nervous riders. I have been an SQA assessor and verifier and been a lecturer in horse management before progressing to management roles in academic development and quality management. The majority of my work these days is in partnership with established riding centres looking to increase the range of services they provide to support wellness in local communities. This sometimes involves horse riding or equestrian vaulting but we are finding that once coaches understand the value of non riding activities to support mental fitness. Our online Intro to EFL and First Aid for Mental health courses count as CPD points for BHS APCs. I was awarded the BHS Helen Barton Smith Silver Stirrup Award 2020 for 'meritorious work with young people'
