About Me

Hi, I am Sandra Schmid, a BHS Stage 3 accredited coach based in West Cork/Republic of Ireland. I am available to teach children, teenagers and adults on an individual basis, on their own horses, and I have a 14.3 cob available to hire for lessons as well. As well as coaching riding as a sport, I work with children and adults with additional needs as a therapeutic riding coach. I have 10 years experience in providing a safe, encouraging, supportive environment for riders to gain their first confidence boosting experiences with horses and build on their skills. I specialise in coaching riders who might need a confidence boost, who are starting again after a break or a fall or who want to start doing that little bit more than hacking and are looking for some guidance where to start. I also coach riders as a preparation for getting started with competitions. My coaching style is rider-and-horse centred and I work closely with the rider to develop their goals and work with their individual learning style to make their lessons effective and enjoyable for them and their horse.
I am a keen rider myself - show jumping, ODE and Riding Club competitions as well as long-distance riding and Trec events, and I use my own experience and skills in my coaching to help riders progress and achieve their goals at their own pace.
