Thank you for supporting the UK's largest equine charity. By joining 120,000 other likeminded horse enthusiasts, you're part of the largest equestrian community in the UK. Together we can ensure that every horse is respected, protected and enjoyed by knowledgeable, caring people.

As a BHS Gold member, you have access to a huge range of benefits to help you to enjoy your life with horses. You're also helping to raise the vital funds we need to support all of our essential work to improve access, safety, welfare and education for horses and riders across the UK.

Your membership card

Your BHS membership card is now digital.

We're making your membership card more user-friendly. Your new digital membership card will be sent to you via email now, rather than post. Simply pop it into your digital wallet on your mobile phone (Google Wallet or Apple Wallet) to easily access it when you need it to check your insurance expiry date, use it to prove your insurance, or when you need your membership number to access all of your benefits.

Making our membership cards digital helps to reduce our environmental impact of card printing and postage, as well as minimising our admin costs, resulting in more money being spent on our charitable objectives.

Your insurance cover

Accidents are never pleasant, but they're a fact of life for all of us. Personal injury compensation claims can sometimes run into the millions, meaning that anyone who is uninsured risks losing their home and any other assets. As a BHS Gold Member you're covered - enjoy peace of mind with public liability insurance and personal accident insurance.

Public liability insurance up to £30 million*

Public liability insurance will cover you for third-party injury or property damage caused by your horse. For peace of mind, our public liability insurance covers all horses you own, look after or ride, regardless of their age.

Professional equestrian activities and some high-risk recreational activities are not covered. Further details can be found in the policy documents below:

Personal accident insurance up to £10,000*

Accidents happen, but it's good to know you'll be covered. Personal accident insurance covers you for accidental death, loss of limb or sight and permanent total disablement only. Find further details in the policy documents below:

Insurance FAQs

How do I claim on the insurance?

Public liability claims should be reported to SEIB Insurance Brokers Ltd’s helpline: 0345 8734907.

Personal Accident claims should be reported to SEIB Insurance Brokers Ltd’s helpline: 0330 6600723.

How do I cancel my insurance?

The insurance cover included within BHS Gold membership is a group policy, and as such there is no way to cancel just the insurance aspect should you decide that you no longer require the cover. BHS members who don’t require public liability insurance any longer can opt for Silver membership, which does not include insurance, and continue to support the Society’s charitable work in welfare, education, safety and access.

How do I know when my insurance cover starts?

Your BHS membership begins when payment confirmation is received via email if you have joined online, or verbally confirmed by the BHS membership team if you’ve joining over the phone. If you have sent in a cheque or direct debit form, you’re insured from the day your cheque or form is received by the BHS membership team.
