We’re here to help all vets working in the equine field by providing educational and practical support. Our website contains lots of helpful information and advice on horse care and welfare, covering a wide range of topics from care and nutrition, diseases and health conditions to behaviour and enrichment. We also run campaigns and provide proactive support through various events which vets can get involved with and signpost their clients to for additional advice and support.

Blogs and conversations
We work collaboratively with many industry experts to provide informative and helpful advice on a variety of topics. This includes conversations or webinars with various experts, which are available to watch and listen back to.
Proactive work
As part of our vision to promote positive management and care for all equines, we regularly visit yards or host events which vets can support and get involved with:
- Healthcare and education clinics – get hands-on experience and gain CPD when volunteering your time at our clinics. To sign up and make a difference, visit the BEVA Trust.
- Horse health days – We want to tackle the issue of equine obesity and offer tailored advice and support to owners. If you visit a yard regularly that could benefit from routine visits with our weighbridge, encourage them to sign up for a horse health day.
Friends at the End
Friends at the End is a BHS initiative created to make sure that no one has to face the loss of an equine companion alone. We offer free, confidential support to horse owners, carers, sharers, and loaners before, during and after the death or loss of a horse. We have free leaflets and business cards available to vets to promote our support scheme to your clients. We can help support you and the horse owner throughout the entire end-of-life process.
Supporting vets of the future
In partnership with the University of Surrey’s School of Veterinary Medicine, the BHS Stewart Hastie Veterinary Student Champion scheme aims to create a link between veterinary students, horse owners and the work of the BHS.
